RE: Reservations for My Rushmore area - 4th of July?

We will be there for the 4th. Didn't make any reservations for anything yet except for the campground. Some of the attractions might not open until Memorial Day. So might look into some reservations for Wind Cave Tours, etc after Memorial Day. See you there and have a great trip!!

RE: Bunk Ladder

We also ended up making our own after a long search. We made ours out of 2x4's and 1 inch wooden dowels. Stained and clearcoated then used metal hooks at the top to hook onto the bunk. Works great for about $20!!

RE: Buying Used Advice and more

I took some of the checklists from the RVing FAQ's at the top of the page, some of them are for new RV's but they gave me some of the things to look at and put together my own checklist when we bought our used TT. What it did was gave me a method for looking over things. Good luck with your search.

RE: "Green" camping ideas..............

I love to recycle (rummage), one man's trash is another man's treasure and saves things from the landfill! Probally one of the best "green" things we can do! Anyway, as for tips, what about using solar power? I've seen portable panels that campers use to charge the batteries during the day. You could change out the regular light bulbs with LED bulbs, use less energy. Bamboo sheets/towels. Can't wait to see some other tips...

RE: South Dakota and Wyoming suggestions

If you can, you might enjoy hiking up Harney Peak. Beautiful views!! Google earth has some u-tube videos of the scenery. There are lots of easy hiking trails in the Hills for you to enjoy. You also might want to take in either Wind Cave National Park or Jewel Cave National Monument. Hope you have a great time in our great state!!

RE: South Dakota Badlands

The end of July will be hot. We're going the end of June through the 4th of July. June should have some nice mild temps. May could be a little cool, we've had a cold spring so far, don't know what that could spell for the begining of summer.

North Shore - MN, Attractions?

We are looking at taking a vacation to the north shore area in MN. Does anyone know what area attractions there are? Fun things to do?

RE: Your BEST RVing trip so far....

My favorite trip is anytime we all get out together camping, at any campground! Having the time spend together as a family is absolutely priceless!! We're going to the Black Hills this summer and can't wait!!

RE: More white stuff

We are in a blizard warning for tonight and tomorrow!!! Expecting 6-12" of that darned white stuff along with 40 MPH winds!! Oh Joy...Joy...Joy..We were going to get the camper out of storage this weekend....but might hold off a bit. At the rate we're going, might be the middle of May till we get it out! The good news.....Temps are supposed to be in the 60's by the end of next week, at least that's what they are saying now!!!

RE: tt bed sheets and comforters

Use regular sheet set for the bunks. Use those garter hooks things found at Walmart to keep things snug. Use regular twin sized blankets, they fit just fine.

RE: Help - RV Site Badlands/M. Rushmore

We staying at Custer State Park - Grace Coolidge. Can't beat the SD State Park System. Clean restrooms. Grace Coolidge is right by Game Lodge, bike path between the 2. Only difference is Grace Coolidge is smaller and quiter. Ele only hookups though, so if you need full hookups it won't be the place for you. Have fun and enjoy your time in the great state of South Dakota!!!

RE: 1st time out for the season

You are a lucky one, I'm jealous. We still have snow up here, been dreaming of summerizing the TT, but so far just dreaming. Still too cold....Maybe in a few weeks!! Happy camping and have fun getting the TT ready to go...

RE: privacy curtain

I just bought a thermo window panel from Target. Going to use a tension curtain rod to put accross the front. The reason I went with thermo was the noise/light reduction. I actually got a longer one than I needed, I intend to cut it off and use with velcro on the bunk windows for added light reduction.
